Drive, Surf, Camp....booicore!
| Sep 15 , 2017
There is no better feeling in the world than strapping your surfboard to your camper and heading off into the wide blue yonder. We are fortunate enough to be based in a great country with access to some fantastic surfing beaches and places where you can camp out under the stars.
But what about the weather I hear you shout. Well, OK, the UK is not known for its sunshine, but that is half the fun! With a camper van (whether you own it, rent it, or borrow it), you have a little house on wheels, so when it rains you can just hunker down inside and wait for it to pass - or pack up and chase the next bit of blue sky!
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your board, start the van, and let's go:
The Atlantic Highway, Cornwall
When you think of camper van's and surfing in the UK, Cornwall usually springs to mind. Running from Barnstable in Devon to Fraddon in Cornwall, this is an amazing drive that will take your breath away. So much coast to explore along the way, from the secluded beach at The Strangles to Tintagel and Port Isaac - there are also plenty of places to stop and grab a bite to eat as well. We recommend ending your day at Polzeath and checking into the Tristram campsite for some amazing sea views.
Torridge, North Devon
North Devon has some of the best beach break surf in the World, and some of our top spots to enjoy it are Greysands Beach at Westward Ho! Instow Beach on the Taw and Torridge Estuary, and the Valley of the Rocks at Lynton. You can stay overnight at the stunning Seagate car park at Appledore and wake up to amazing views of the Taw and Torridge Estuary, or if you can't get your hands on a van of your own book an overnight stay in the Van at Ocean Pitch Camping in Croyde Bay.
The Purbeck Coast, Dorset
Part of the Jurassic Coast, this part of the world is full of natural wonders such as the beautiful arch at Durdle Dor, beaches packed full of fossils at Swanage, and the stunning water at Man O'war Sands. It is one of the best coasts for camper vanning too as it has lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Head to the Lulworth Estate at Durdle Dor for a beautiful location to park your van.
St Ives to Sennen, West Penwith
Well known in the surfing community, this slow road (B3306) is full of twists and turns for 11 miles, with lots of hidden beaches as well. One of the best driving routes in the South West with magnificent views of white sand and blue seas - you might even forget you are in England. Loads of places to pitch up your van along the way or why not book a spot at the Ayr Holiday Park?
Wherever you go and whatever you do, booicore has the gear you need. From our dirtbag to keep all your kit dry, to our changing towels to get you dry - when adventure calls, Booicore answers.
